Safe, confidential space to explore your experience of bereavement, grief or loss

Counselling supports us with all aspects and in all stages of our life. Sometimes we have experiences that are best explored with someone who is not family or a friend. Through counselling, I offer a safe, confidential, non-judgemental space for you to explore your experience and how it has impacted your life. I will work with you to help you find a way forward, that is right for you.

About me and my practice

I offer a person-centred approach to counselling sessions working with you in an empathic, respectful and honest way. Experience in this field has taught me that there is no right way to deal with death and loss and no fixed time frame to deal with what is happening for you. The emotions you experience will be strong, painful and at times overwhelming. I provide space to explore your circumstances and beliefs finding solutions to issues at times of heightened stress. I commit to valuing your experience and working with you to identify coping strategies that are individual to and right for you.

Experience

I have 6 years experience of working with people who have experienced bereavement, grief or loss. This work has included people from a wide variety of adult age ranges. Bereavement work has been with those who have experienced the death of a loved one either through natural causes or suicide. Loss work has included those people who have been diagnosed with a life limiting illness or short life prognosis, a life changing event such as a divorce or stroke or the death of a loved one, resulting in the ending of a carer role and a feeling of lack of purpose in life. During the pandemic I worked with people who experienced the death of a loved one from COVID or was isolated and lonely due to lock downs. Through this work I developed a greater understanding of the ambiguous losses experienced through death or the loss of relationships or work.
